Jane Yolen is the author of over 280 books for children including the 1988 Caldecott Award winner Owl Moon.

The Council presented the 2007 Children's Literature Council Awards to the following Southern California authors, illustrators, poets, or contributors of excellence to the field of Children's Literature. The Awards will be presented at the Fall Gala.

DOROTHY C. MCKENZIE AWARD

Author, 2007 Newbery Medal Award Winner for The Higher Power of Lucky.
Retired, Los Angeles Public Library
Senior Librarian, Children's Services Department

This award is named for the organization's founder, Dorothy C. McKenzie. The award is given in recognition of an individual's contribution to the field of children's literature.
