Each year, at the Children's Literature Council's Fall Gala, the Council is pleased to present BOOK AWARDS to Southern California authors and illustrators for outstanding books published in the previous year.

With the exception of two named awards, Myra Cohn Livingston Award for Poetry and the Dorothy C. McKenzie Award for Distinguished Service to the Field of Children's Literature, the Award categories vary from year to year and are determined by the serving AWARDS COMMITTEE, which is comprised of Children's Literature Council members. The Committee considers all books written and/or illustrated by Southern California authors and illustrators and published in the year preceding the Award year.

Submissions for award consideration may be sent directly to each member of the current Awards Committee. Please include an official SUBMISSION FORM.
